Each of Hde Park's nine buildings has its own 8 cubic yard dumpster. Residents are responsible for carrying household garbage from their homes to one of these dumpsters.
Hyde Park's dumpsters are emptied three times each week:
On Mondays, dumpsters are emptied by Waste Pro through a contract with the City of Charlotte.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, dumpsters are emptied by Active Waste Solutions.
Note that the collection schedule may vary due to holidays or inclement weather.
Bag all garbage
Break down or flatten cardboard boxes
Throw garbage as far inside and to the back of the dumpster as possible
Don't leave garbage outside the dumpster
Do not obstruct access to the dumpster
Bulky items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, and Christmas trees should not be left outside the dumpster. Instead, residents should arrange for free pick-up of these items by calling 311 or (704) 336-7600.
Hyde Park does not offer recycling services at this time. Residents who wish to recycle must carry their refuse to a Mecklenburg County Recycling Center. The nearest one is located about 15 minutes away in Reedy Creek Park.
